Nelson Mandela

Nelson Mandela was a famous person of South Africa who wanted freedom in South Africa. This quest took him to a prison underground to the presidency. Even though Nelson Mandela has past away he is still a very important figure in South Africa. In his quest to have freedom in South Africa Nelson Mandela became a rarity. Black and white people adore Nelson Mandela.

What 2013 Taught Me

2013 taught me that you should be thankful for the life that you have because many people died. Since many people died in 2013 I feel I should be very thankful for every thing I have and that nothing really bad happened to me. Nelson Mandela, Paul Walker, Lou Reed, Cory Monteith were people who died in 2013.

What I look forward to in 2014

I look forward to the technology of 2014. There have been many different advancements in technology. The IPhone S and C, the Samsung watch. Those are three advancements of many and there will be more in 2014.

Ligers

                              Introduction

Ligers are  a cross breed between a tiger and a lion. Ligers can be more like lions than tigers with their character. A liger is a big cat that is the offspring of a male lion and a female tiger. There is also something called a tigon. But this is the offspring of a female lion and male tiger. These two do look different even though they are offspring of the same animal. Ligers get characteristics from both lion and tiger . The liger has tiger like strips that are light and also looks like a big lion. Some say that a liger is larger than his parents and are arguably the largest big cats in the world.

Opinion

I didn't know that tigers and lions could mate because they both live in different continents. Also I read a book that said if a lion and a tiger saw each other, they wouldn't recognize each other and kill each other and the lion would win. Since there are more ligers than tigons the ligers may have a better chance at being born.

Candy canes

                                  Introduction

Candy canes weren't always striped, they were developed by just white strips of sugar. In the mid-1600 candy makers made candy canes by hand instead of machine. The task needed a lot of time and strength. The ingredients needed to be mixed, heated and then pulled, cut and twisted. The first candy sticks were made in 1670 by choirmaster in Germany. The candy canes were for the kids who went to the Christmas Nativity pageant.

Opinion

My opinion on candy canes are that since they are a stick of sugar I think that kids should eat the smaller candy canes in stead of the larger ones because that much sugar can make a kid get hyper. Some parents don't let their kids eat candy canes because of the sugar. But the candy makers who make it by hand do work very hard and should get more credit. This video from Wonderopolis showed me that.

Turkey on Thanksgiving

Introduction

When the pilgrims came to America they met the American Indians. The American Indians taught the pilgrims many things about the land. When they became close they had something called Thanksgiving. On November 28th thanksgiving is a tradition and so is eating turkey on that day. There are many theories on why pilgrims eat turkey on thanksgiving. One theory was that during the 16th century a fleet of Spanish ships sunk on their way to attack England. Queen Elizabeth revived this news while eating dinner. She was so trilled that she ordered another goose be served. The Settlers were so trilled they roasted a turkey instead of a goose.

Opinion

I think that if we eat turkey on Thanksgiving because Queen Elizabeth ate a goose but not a turkey. Since she didn't eat a turkey I don't know why we eat turkey for sure. I think we eat turkey because the American Indians and pilgrims needed to decide on what to eat.  But the Indians think that animals should be respected. So they decided on a turkey than an other animal. If they decided on an other animal then they would eat an other animal.

The Mysteries of Stonehenge

Introduction

There are many world landmarks but one that is very interesting is Stonehenge. Stonehenge is an unknown statue with a lot of theories. Some say that it's earths greatest mysteries. It has many theories. Some theories are that prehistoric people made it and others say that it was an alien landing sight. Other theories are that the rocks have healing powers. Stonehenge is located in southern England Salisbury plain. This circular structure is a very popular land mark to tourist all around the world.

My Opinion

I personally think that Stonehenge was made by prehistoric people. But didn't have written records. The prehistoric era was when writing wasn't invented. There were many inventions in prehistoric time so it is not a surprise that something like this was made. As you can see in the picture above, this structure is made out of only rocks in a circular way. If you look at other pictures you can see how some people may think that it was left by aliens. But I personally don't think that it was aliens.

The Secrets of Advertisment

Techniques
Many techniques are used in advertising. Two of the techniques that the commercial below focuses on are Emotional appeal and Transfer. Emotional appeal gives us a feeling of of happiness, sadness, and other feeling. This is effective because it appeals to your emotions happy, sad, mad etc.Transfer connects a product with a positive image, lifestyle, or idea. This is also effective because you might want to be like the baby when he is having the time of his life. As you can see both Emotional appeal and Transfer are used in commercials to make you wnt the product and laugh. In the commercial emotional appeal shows at the end when the baby is having a party and other events, this might make you laugh. Transfer is used at the end when the baby is having the time of his life in many events. Emotional appeal is a good technique because the emotions like laughter and sadness are very persuasive because sadness makes people think about what would happen. Happiness makes people laugh or smile and this can have then buy your product.

            Opinion
I like this commercial because it makes me happy and puts a smile on my face. The transfer part of the commercial makes me think if i get the product I can do all the things that the baby did.The target audience could be people who want to save money. Also the target audience could be people who want to save but use most of the money. I think that the target audience would like this commercial because there is humor behind saving money by blowing it. I think this commercial made a lot of money because of the humor from the baby in the commercial. There are other Etrade commercials commercials with this baby and I think these commercials will keep making money. I think that if this commercial keeps making money as long as they keep the baby and tell the truth about the product. I know that Etrade works because my Aunt has Etrade because she wants to save as much money as possible. My Aunt save an enormous amount of money when she started with Etrade. The baby in these commercials tells you a lot about this product so that you are happy about with Etrade.

Top Five Emotional Appeal Commercials.(Don't read the bold before reading the last paragraph)

Emotional appeal is shown when the baby inside the baby room says that he is speed dating. Emotional appeal is shown when the kid in the back of the car asks" where do babies come from."  This is humorous because the parents reaction is that he didn't want to know what he knew. Emotional appeal is shown when the baby gets sling shot and takes the Doritos right from the kids hand .This is humorous because when the baby gets sling shot he knows what to do like he did it before.

Top Five Transfer Commercials
(Don't read the bold before reading the next paragraph)

Transfer is shown when the little girl is dancing with the bears.  This is transfer because the kid is dancing with teddy bears and it isn't telling you and thing about the cereal.Transfer is shown when Ana Gasteyer is talking about how she lost weight in a song.  This is transfer because it shows how much weight she lost. Transfer is shown when the women talks about losing weight with many other people.  This is transfer because it is talking about women losing weight and believing in yourself.Transfer is shown when the women are talking aboutlosin weight when it isn't affecting their diet.Transfer is shown when the women is singing about how people should believe in each other and themselves. This is transfer because she is saying that you can lose weight if you want.

Monster of China

The First Emperor of China

In 1974 farmers found a sculpted head in their soil. Which lead to the discovery of Qin shi huang's tomb. Qin was only 13 years old when he became Emperor. He became Emperor in 246 B.C. Qin was a ruler with many powers and a lot of money. Qin made the first version of the Great Wall of China, and took over 36 years to build. Qin had money and power but wanted more, he wanted immortality. But when he failed to get immortality, in his tomb was another empire to help him in the after life. The tomb of Qin shi huang had an army of terracotta warriors. The terracotta army included archers, cavalry, chariots, and foot soldiers. But he envisioned that he would need citizens in the after life as well. This included government officials, acrobats, dancers, singers, animals, and a strong man to entertain him.

 My opinion
Qin shi haung was a cruel ruler for how he massacred the army of six states without mercy.
He put 100 of thousands of people into harsh labor. showed no toleration for dissent. If you did have dissent he would have you killed on the spot, and ask someone else to do the job. People who he ruled over tried to assassinate him seven times but he lived through all of them. When Qin shi haung made his tomb it cost an enormous amount of money, and with all the money he had he didn't share any of it. This shows that Qin was a greedy ruler and he also didn't respect anyone.

Top ten facts

  1. An army of 8,000 clay soldiers to accompany Qin shi haung in his tomb and after life
  2. Terracotta warriors are over 2,200 years old
  3. Discovered by local farmers who were digging for water
  4. Each face is unique with detail
  5. Their height and uniform also varies by rank
  6. Over 650 horses are part of the army
  7. It is believed that the Empeor's tomb contains simulated rivers
  8. It is believed that soldiers held real weapons
  9. Over 700,000 workers were employed for construction
  10. The tomb has not been dug yet
Would you want to live under Qin shi haung's rule? I would never want to be under his rule because of how unfair it was. Leave your opinion in a comment below. Other articles will be below along with some videos.

Supercroc awakening

Introduction
In the giant river lives a beast with over 100 razor sharp teeth that could kill anything it needed to kill. 110 years ago there was a monster that was 40 ft long and weighed 8-10 tons and could kill a giant dinosaur. The Supercroc was probably the best predator that ever lived. Supercroc lived in Africa and spent most of it’s life in the river but could hunt on land as well as in water. Because of the supercroc's strength some people say that the supercroc could have could have killed a T-rex easily. Although Supercroc was one of the most dominant  predators on the planet, they were very rare because a crocodile like this needs a large space to live.

My opinion
My opinion I think Supercroc could kill anything that challenged it. This Supercroc could also go 2 years without food and months without water according to the video "Crocs eating Dinos". Plus the jaws were five feet long according to Peter Winker. also the life span is 50-60 years. According to National geography Supercroc had cousins know as Boar, Rat, Pancake, Dog, and Duck croc.
